My Mom is 60!

I helped plan a surprise 60th birthday party for my mom, but first Lydia needed to nap with her daddy.

My Aunt Marcia's church allowed us to have the party in their fellowship hall, so we told mom we were all getting together to eat at Marcia's 'place'. We decorated with old photographs and fun, bright colors. 

She was VERY surprised!

Jason and Rachel were even able to make an appearance! (Steve and Melissa had planned to come, but could not due to unfortunate events.) 

At age 93, Ma Rea was there as chipper as ever.

Pastor Davis blessed the food.

There was a smorgasbord of food provided by all those in attendance.

On her actual birthday, we went to eat at the Mexican restaurant in town accompanied by the Crawfords and the McConnells.

These two couldn't get enough of each other. Cousin love is the best! 

Thanks again to all who made my mom feel super special and a very happy birthday to the best mom in the world!!

Georgia Mountain Fair

I can't remember ever going to the Ga. Mt. Fair, so we rode over on Friday and walked through it. We were hoping for more animals, but Lydia was still intrigued.

We thought for sure she'd ride the miniature pony, but we were proved wrong. Oh well. :) 

My mom told us to look up her and dad's old friends who always sell ice cream at the fair. We found them and it was delicious! 

I wanted to try a frozen banana dipped in chocolate.

They make it in this old fashioned machine! So cool!

Playing in the water was a special treat. 

All in all, a good time was had!

Winston-Salem Weekend

My friend is getting married September 1st, so off to the bachelorette party I went! Since she lives close to Winston-Salem and my brother has an apartment there that he sleeps in during the week and is vacant on weekends, we crashed in his oh so humble abode. Thanks Steve!

Since I was doing girly stuff all day, Joey took Lydia to the Children's Museum. It looks like a lot of fun!

It was actually Krispy Kreme's 75th Birthday that weekend, so Lydia "made" donuts. 

Meanwhile, I was having a spa day with the rest of the bridal party. I enjoyed my first facial at Van Davis Aveda. Other treats were manicures, pedicures, and massages. 

Then it was off to dinner at Midtown Cafe & Dessertery.

The chocolate chip cheesecake was heavenly!

Then it was present time! Let's just say a good laugh was had by all! 

We rounded off the night with a visit to the Comedy Zone in Greensboro. Again, lots more laughing! 

We all had a great time and I can't wait to watch my friend get married in 7 short weeks!
