So, Thanksgiving has come and gone. We celebrated with both my family and Joey's. Jason and Rachel traveled to Franklin. We visited Ma Rea then went on to Bev's for the actual meal. Everyone on that side of the family was in attendance, except for Steve and Melissa. Melissa was 35 weeks pregnant, so the 5+ hour trip would have been most uncomfortable. While we missed them terribly, we had a good time eating and visiting, as I am sure most everyone who reads this did also. I made a very delicious pumpkin bread trifle, but I made so much, I am still eating it! Later, we went to Joey's sister's house to eat with them. Unfortunately, we were missing a much larger percentage of his family. Jeri and Loren had made the trip from Florida, but Matt had to work. Ashley, Brian and Julian now live in California as do Michael and Shannon, so them coming was out of the question. Greg was the lone uncle to entertain the 4 wild kids.
On to more news - my sister-in-law had a complication in her pregnancy this past week and her doctor induced labor on Wednesday afternoon. A healthy baby boy, Connor Aiden McConnell, was born Thursday, December 1st at 11:24 am. He weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. Melissa and baby are doing rather well. She still hasn't been released from the hospital due to her kidney and liver numbers, but hopefully tomorrow. My mom has been there since Friday and has been cleaning, doing laundry, preparing the baby's room, and taking care of their two dogs, Abby and Loki. I am a very proud aunt once again.
This past Thursday evening, my mom's church hosted a women's banquet. The tables are decorated with Christmas memorabilia and food is served by the men in the church. Our table consisted of my gramma, mom, Marcia, Judy, Beverly, Riley, and myself and was decorated with Judy's manger scene and Gramma's Christmas china. The food started off with a cranberry jello and warm rolls followed by broccoli cheese soup. The main course with chicken on rice covered in a mushroom sauce. I enjoyed it so much! Dessert was mini-trifles of various flavors: I choose the chocolate one!
My wonderful friend Holly volunteered to keep my dear child while my mom is in Cary. She has two boys: Wyatt is almost 4 and Jack will be 2 in less than a week. Needless to say, my child had a great Friday!

Holly and I threw a baby shower for our friend Callie yesterday. I think it went really well. To see pictures go to Holly's blog.
I am trying desperately to complete this graduate school semester. I have somewhat struggled with my research class due to the immense amount of readings and homework. I just have a 15 page paper to finish and a 20 minute presentation to get through Thursday evening. WHEW!
One last tidbit - my assistant is having surgery on Wednesday. Please say a prayer that all goes as planned and she rests and recovers quickly. She will be out until the new year, so please also pray for me and my 21 children who will miss her terribly!
